It was a pleasure having Josh facilitate and work with our staff for the day guided by a focus on shifting from Grade Based Reporting to Competency Based Reporting. Josh planned a day that was very informative based on his vast knowledge and experiences as well as engaging for our staff as they work on their own pedagogical planning and transitioning to the new reporting order. Our staff also appreciated Josh’s humor and personal experiences that highlighted his own journey to date and the work he continues to do. The day truly provided our staff with a foundation to build upon and provided multiple entry points for further inquiry and exploration as we move in to the 23/24 school year and the full implementation of the new reporting order.

Assessment in Physical Education is not an easy topic to discuss and Josh’s workshop was delivered in exactly the way a workshop on assessment needs to be delivered in order to resonate…he connected assessment practices to PE program values and beliefs and always brought it back to student learning and experience…he was thought-provoking without being directive yet had clear answers to pertinent “how do you evaluate this?” questions from attendees.
